2006/2007 season cancellations to date & other news

by Staff Writer

Fans of Smith - the show is gone.

Kidnapped will finish up airing the filmed episodes and then leave for good. The network says loose ends will be tied up first.

Runaway is also going.

Oddly enough ABC is scrambling to revive LOST’s viewership. Mandy Patankin and his show Criminal Minds have been doing well against LOST this year. Perhaps it is time for the writers on Lost to tie up a few ends and get Jack, Kate, and Sawyer back with the rest of the crew. Criminal Minds is a pretty good show, and I have to admit that I’ve been known to flip away from Lost to check in with Mandy and the rest of his crew. I’ll have plenty of time to catch up with Criminal Minds anyway, Lost is being put on a hiatus in November for a total of 13 weeks to allow the new show Day Break to draw in viewers. During those thirteen weeks, I have a feeling I won’t mind Lost being gone at all… I think those writers are starting to figure out that they are writing themselves into a black hole that some fans are growing tired of.

Also in the rumors are whispers that the show Twenty Good Years (John Lithgow) is going to be axed from the schedule. I’d love to see Alec Baldwin’s 30 Rock go with it! I just have serious issues with Alec Baldwin as a human right now. What he and Kim Basinger are doing to their daughter is inexcusable.

20 Good Years has been completely removed from the schedule.

But, how come you don’t like Alec? I love 30 Rock. It was hilarious. Alec Baldwin has grea comedic talent. Don’t hold him accountable because he is actually a Baldwin and his other brothers are hacks, lol.

And Lost isn’t going off the air so Daybreak can air. Daybreak is airing because Lost already decided to go off the air last year, so they need something to fill it. It looks like a pretty crazy show too. I’m gonna tune in.

    Aaron.

Alec Baldwin… my distaste for him started quite a few years back. He was married to Kim Basinger - all know that.

Well Kim suffers and has for years from severe panic/anxiety disorder. If you’ve ever dealt with this disorder, it’s not fun and can be very crippling.

When they first split up, all was supposed to be amicable because of their daughter. Instead, Alec started doing the “Kim is psycho” bit. She would then retaliate. So he’d retaliate more.

Meanwhile, the two of them have decided to use the daughter against each other and I find all of it appalling. They BOTH need to grow up and put their daughter first.

I also lack respect from him after listening an interview with one of the Baldwin boys - I think it was Billy but don’t quote me on that. Three of them were on Letterman together and the youngest started telling about a time in their teens when the older two, Alec and whoever, decided to play a prank. Wrapped him up in a rug, put him into the tub and turned the water on until the tub had filled up. Sorry, I don’t find that funny. He could have drowned. That’s twisted in my book.

Lost is always taking hiatuses and it ticks me off.

Daybreak - I won’t watch it. It is a rip off of Tru Calling from a few years ago. It’s not original at all.

  3. Aaron Says:

The problem isn’t with Lost itself, but the network and how TV works. It’s only physically possible for the Lost team to create 24 episodes a year, but the TV season is a lot longer than that.

Last year it was re-runs all the time which was frustrating. Because ABC, wants to run Lost during sweeps weeks. So they would save the new episodes for the sweeps weeks.

This year will be wonderful. Sure it’ll be off for 13 weeks, but when it comes back we’ll have 18 straight weeks of new Lost episodes. I think this is a great compromise between the network and the producers of the show.

As with Alec Baldwin, I just really don’t care about any stars personal life. If I like people as actors I like them. I don’t care much about what they do in their personal life.

    Aaron.

  4. Tracy Says:

I think for me it depends on what is going on in the stars’ lives. As a mom, I have issues any time anyone treats their children as pawns. Hate when my neighbor does it with her current beau and I can’t stand it from Hollywood either.

Networks - I have to say I feel TV is getting out of hand. Used to be that a season lasted from September to May - no ifs, ands, or buts. Only time off was for holidays. Now stars are getting hundreds of thousands and barely working. What ever happened to the day of working to entertain people - not to see how much money one can make per episode. That’s what really happens - shows can only afford to pay so much out per year, so they limit the number of aired shows.

I have to side with my brother on Lost. He doesn’t watch the show. He waits until the season discs come out finds someone willing to loan it to him - then he doesn’t plan anything for a whole weekend and sits down and watches the entire season from Friday to Sunday nights. That way he can skip the repeat shows and catch it all in one sitting.
