Kidation Election Recap

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Zach on Kid Nation

Will it be “Deal with It” or “Viva la Revolucion!”?

Just in case ya’ll may have missed last week’s episode, like myself, they do have the entire thing over at YouTube. I just spent the last half hour finding all of them and watching them. Even the hubby joined in and took a peek, he too wanted to see who got to stay and who got voted off the council. He doesn’t like Mike or Taylor.

This one starts off with them reading from that book and deciding that they should let the town vote for who they think should be in town council. I think this nerved Taylor as she knows she has her own issues and many of the town members don’t like it.

Julia Roberts gets Honored

Denzel giving Julia Roberts Trophy

American Cinematheque honored Julia Roberts late yesterday afternoon during 22nd Annual Award ceremony. It was only last year that Julia Roberts presented the award to a smiling George Clooney and this year it was Denzel Washington who was able to give it to Julia Roberts. Of course Julia Roberts wasn’t willing to just take the award and walk away. With her bright smile she replied, ““I think I came along at a kinder time in the business.â€? Whether that is true or not, she sure has made some GREAT films, that’ll forever grace us on the television.

Looking gorgeous as ever, here’s how Milo looked walking into the Emmy Awards a few hours ago. I wonder if he called Alexis today to wish her a Happy Birthday? Wouldn’t that be sweet?

Ryan Seacrest at Emmy Awards

Ryan Seacrest has a giant smile as he arrives to the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards. With a smile like that, it’s no wonder why “American Idol” is a hit.

Lisa Rinna

I’ve always thought this was one pretty lady, ever since seeing her in Days Of Our Lives. I’m glad she’s back on the show though. Just look at that smile, it just glows and the hair works for her…not everyone can pull it off.

64th Annual Golden Globe Awards (2007)

Thursday, December 14th, 2006
goldenglobes.jpg

Is it time for the Golden Globes already? Wow, where did 2006 go? I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for awards shows. Oddly, I have trouble watching them because it makes me uncomfortable watching stars get uncomfortable in such a public setting. Hearing jokes bomb, political tirades and other zany behavior always gives me cheese chills. But like any other train wreck, I have trouble turning away. And thank The Maker for my TiVo for letting me skip extremely awkward moments or letting me re-watch a star trip on the stairs or see the faces of stars who got snubbed. Good times for all.

Some of my favorite shows got nominated this year in one category or another. Here are some of my favorite nominations:

TV
TV Series, Drama : Heroes - My pick for winner!
TV Series, Comedy: Weeds
Lead Actor, Drama: Michael C. Hall (Dexter) or Hugh Laurie (House). My money is on Dexter!
Lead Actress, TV Drama: Patricia Arquette - This category seems pretty weak, but I’ll go with my Wife’s pick on this one
Lead Actor, Comedy: Jason Lee (Earl)
Lead Actress, Comedy: Mary-Louis Paker (Weeds)
Best Supporting Actor in a Series: Justin Kirk (Weeds), Masi Oka (Heroes) - I’m soooo torn! I’ll go with Masi, he’s got geek cred.
Supporting Actress in a Series: Sarah Paulson (Studio 60) Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds)

You can check out some of the nominations on TV Guide because oddly enough, The Golden Globes site hasn’t listed them yet.

I have to admit I haven’t seen enough movies this year, but this is a TV Blog so I can let that slide. I’m very happy to see Heroes, Dexter, House and Weeds nominated and other new and interesting shows. There has been a trend with awards committees to go with the usual nominees like 24, Desperate Housewives and Lost. While 24 is still going strong, most of the usual suspects just aren’t cutting it anymore. I still love lost, but it’s not a priority show. Criminal Minds should have been all over this list, where was it? I suppose I can’t have all my favorites win, but I’m glad to see more of them on the list.

Make sure you set your TiVo or PVR to record on January 15th so you don’t miss any great awkward moments. Hopefully someone will make a fool of themselves like Faith Hill did on the CMAs. Priceless.
