The latest news

Monday, October 29th, 2007

It seems that this week there is a lot of news for the crime drama genre. First and foremost I have caught wind of a crossover between two of your favorite crime shows. TV Guide has reported that this Thursday there will be a very very special episode of ‘CSI’.csi-tv-show-54.jpg This starts at eight and will continue straight over on to ‘Without A Trace’ at nine.without-a-trace-tv-16.jpg This storyline is suppose to really be explosive and nonstop through the two hours. TV Guide also said that we will be saying goodbye to Sarah. With her being kidnapped during the season finale it appears to be curtains for her. Her relationship with Grissom has also been exposed so it seems to be hard times ahead for Grissom. I have also heard that there is a new Crime Drama show coming out that is supposed to be very interactive with the audience. As soon as I know something you will too. On ‘CSI Miami’ the storyline with Horatio having a son seems to be moving along nicely adding several twists this season I’m sure. I don’t think that it is standard procedure to knock someone up while you are undercover. Stay tuned today because I will be posting an episode recap on ‘CSI Miami’ later on tonight. By the way go ahead and check out my last post ‘Smile’.

Newcaster Suspended Over Affair

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Mirthala Salinas

Newscaster Mirthala Salinas for Channel 52-KVEA-TV, was suspended for two months without pay after getting caught having an affair. Why was this bad? Besides the fact it was with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa she also filmed segments of the news while they were dating. This made the network lose credibility. She wasn’t the only one that got in trouble either, co-workers that knew about the affair were put on suspension as well.

No one knows just how long the two were involved but it looks to date back around 2005, which is a long time, especially for someone that was constantly interviewing the Mayor. This past April she was given the role as temporary news anchor and she got to report on all things, including that the Mayor and his wife were splitting up after 20 years. Ikkk, does look funny when it is the other lady reporting it.

Salinas hasn’t made any comments towards what is going on. However, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa told the LA Times:

“I regret that decisions I have made in my personal life have been a distraction for the city, and I am deeply sorry that I have let so many people down, especially my family.”

Save Veronica Mars, Save TV

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Veronica Mars fans, to arms! Rumor has it that our show is in dangerous proximity to the chopping block! While Rob Thomas is currently pitching the fourth season to the CW execs, we need to do our part.

1. Vote for Veronica Mars in the Save One Show poll.

2. Bombard the following address with letters and postcards supporting our favorite teen sleuth. (And if one of you wants to yell at her for cancelling Everwood to make room for yet another “final” season of 7th Heaven, I’m not going to stop you. COME BACK TO ME, EPHRAM!)

Stiller and Aniston Turned Down for 24

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

The folks over at TVSquad have a great story.

It seems that Jennifer Aniston loves 24, so much so she put her name in for the running as one of the guest appearances. Producer Joel Surnow, did one of the smartest things ever, and turned her down. He also turned down Ben Stiller, saying that they were “too recognizable. They’ll take you out of the reality.”

I agree wholeheartedly with Surnow’s decision. 24 is no place for Aniston or Stiller. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ben Stiller, and when he guest starred on Arrested Development as Tony Wonder, I almost died laughing. But, where would Ben Stiller fit in at 24? As a quirky terrorist? I don’t think so.

Aniston would’ve been an awful choice for the show, period. Bring back Mia Kirshner (Mandy) that would work.

Executive Producer of ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ Says Farewell

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

The problem with shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report is that they have an extremely short shelf life. Because the two shows rely on day to day news and politics for their material, their relevancy beyond the week (at most) the episode airs is very limited.

That said, The New York Times is reporting that Ben Karlin has decided to quit as executive producer of both Comedy Central shows. Ben Karlin was hired as the head writer for The Daily Show based on his work at The Onion, in 1999, and was promoted to executive producer in 2003. Apart from that, Karlin played a key role in starting The Colbert Report, and more recently, a pilot for Comedy Central called Three Strikes.

In light of Karlin’s abrupt departure, David Javerbaum (also previously of The Onion) has been promoted to the position of executive producer.

Of no small comfort to Comedy Central is that Mr. Stewart and Mr. Colbert are actively involved in the writing and producing of their respective shows.

It is definitely important to note that both John Stewart and Stephen Colbert are actively involved in their shows, however, if and how this reshuffling will affect the shows will become apparent in the coming months.

Note to 451 Press, who’s watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report?

Extras you can expect on Season 5

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

So what are some of the extras you can expect on the season 5 DVD which comes out December 5th?

Here’s a list:
* season 6 trailer
* season 6 prequel (probably like the mini-episodes on the season 4 and season 5 DVD sets, which give us glimpses of Jack Bauer’s life between the end of last season and the beginning of the next one)
* short featurette on the supporting players of “24″
* short featurette called “unsung heroes: 24 camera department”
* music by Sean Callery
* short featurette on President Logan’s L.A. retreat
* extra DVD-ROM features
* “100th episode reel” (I’m not sure what this is)
* an excerpt from the book “24: behind the scenes”
* 23 extended or deleted scenes that you can watch with or without a commentary track

Add in some commentary from Kiefer, Cassar, and the rest of the 24 gang, and you’ve got yourself a smoking new DVD. I’ve got seasons 1-4 and this will most likely be on my Christmas list.

New 24 Pics Surfacing

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

First off check out this sweet Promo cast picture that I found over at 24podcast.net (which is a sweet site BTW)…

You can notice a few things from this. Seems like Chole’s husband, the weird British guy from the end of last season, is back.

Milo from the very first season seems to have returned. Where’s Curtis or Aaron? I hope they’re still on the show. They are two of my favorite. It’ll be weird not having Tony around :(
The check out the blog there. Some sweet pictures of Kiefer getting ready to do a stunt in front of a house about to be blown up.

Peter MacNicol is on Season 6 of 24

Monday, November 6th, 2006

I have NO idea what role he’s actually playing, but Peter MacNicol cracks me up and I don’t know what to think about him on a show like 24.

I remember him from Ghostbusters 2, and his most wonderful line saying “EVIL?”

Kiefer Talks 24 Movie Details

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

For all of you that are concerned about how the 24 movie is going to play out, here’s the skinny.
I found an article on National Ledger.

The movie will be a 2 hour representation of a ‘24′ hour day.
Kiefer explains:

“It will be weird because the film will be a two-hour representation of the 24 day, which will really give us an incredible amount of freedom, he says.

I don’t know what to think about this. The whole hour by hour thing is what made the show ground-breaking and original. Take away that, and what do you have? The Sentinel? Please, anything but that!

As of right now I have faith in the 24 team.

But, this could truly make or break season 8. As the movie will be placed between seasons 7 and 8, if people think the movie was awful. Then they’ll be less likely to watch the upcoming season.
