Phantom of the Opera on American Idol
It was a “Phantom Of the Opera Night” last night on American Idol, with Ryan announcing it as Earth Day and later Al stating everything would be using green power for the next four weeks. The show would later transform into a video diary of Andrew Lloyd Webber, who believe it or not began playing at the age of 7. WOW!
The group was then flown down to meet Webber, of the Phantom of the Opera, at Webber at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. So, who would it be out of the six to play a song from “Phatom of the Opera?” Well David Cook of course and he played, “Music of the Night” and when it came to the judges I believe they were all compliments. Not quite sure about Simon’s response, “Too rounded off.” David Archuleta did try his hand a one of the “Phantom of the Opera” song’s “Think of Me,” however it feel weak and not impressive. It was no goosebumps popping up your arms like Cook’s did.
So who seemed to be Simon’s favorite last night? The sexy, Syesha Mercado who sang, “One Rock and Roll Too Many.” Even Paula and Randy seemed to like this one, Paula told her it was her happy place.
To be honest I don’t think there was a true favorite among the judges last night, they all seemed to like the singers performances. Brooke White sang “You Must Love Me” but ended up having to start over and her voice was strainged, Carly Smithson sang “Jesus Christ SuperStar” but Simon did say she got a bit shouty. Jason Castro sung, “Memory” from Cats but once again did not impress the judges. In fact, Simon said “Longest two minutes of my life.” OUCH!
So who will walk away tonight? No news, but if you could guess who would you think? My vote would be with Jason Castro leaving.
